And it happened

So, we do have a hung parliament, the pundits had it down to a t practically! Now it feels like a second election, with constant news about talks between various politicians. Appears that Clegg could prove to be far more useful than thought. But the thought of a conservative- lib dem parliament seems a bit strange to me. Surely the underlying ideals of both parties are too conflicting? Yet it seems even more strange that we still have a man we didn’t vote for in no 10 for the second time! This, to me, seems bizare. It is time to get brown out for good, clegg and cameron should surely get something sorted out as soon as possible.

00Dizzee??????

I just saw a video on youtube of an interview with Dizzee Rascal, who is trying to be the next James Bond.

Really? I honestly don’t see how anyone could even take that idea seriously!

Let me start off by saying that this is by no means anything to do with race. No, this is an issue concerning the way the man acts. He’s a fucking rapper! (and not a good one at that)! Bond is supposed to be a man of sophistication, intellect and wit. Dizzee Rascal has all the sophistication, intellect and wit of a towel. It is probably the stupidest idea I have ever heard. The very fact that when he was asked why he thought he would suit the role he said “I’ve rocked a tux before man, yeah I could do it no problems like” (in his stupid fucking voice).

It’s probably easiest to put my argument into pictures:

How the fuck does this man

believe he could come anywhere near fulfilling the role of this man

I rest my case

Hung Parliament

With Gordon Brown announcing the country’s next general election to be held on May 6, naturally, all the parties have upped their campaigns to ensure they will gain as many seats as possible. This is of course completely normal, however, looking at data taken from the BBC news website, a hung parliament is looking more an more likely as each day passes.

A hung parliament occurs when no single party has an absolute majority of seats in the house of commons. The two main parties will then have to share the running of the country (yet they may persuade smaller parties to form a coalition government with them, and resolve the problem (to an extent!)) Figures show that to let go of it’s absolute majority, Labour would have to loose 24 seats and for the Conservatives to gain an absolute majority, they need 116 seats from what they have now!

The reason I wanted to write about this is that I believe that the result of a hung parliament in the upcoming general election would be completely and utterly devastating for this country. For years now, all one sees on a televised house of commons debate are two grown men bickering, throwing insults at one another with their supporters either cheering or jeering behind them. So how the hell will they be able to function properly in a situation where each of them has an equal voice? This appears bad enough, but take into account the fact that we are still in a recession, an illegal war and a society where nobody seems to trust anybody and it should start to seem very worrying indeed.

This issue has led to much talk of ‘tactical voting’ whereby one votes not for their preferred party (normally one with less presence in the commons at the time) but for the party they despise the least out of the ‘main’ two parties. It seems to me that, if the polls are to be trusted, it’s going to take a hell of a lot of tactical votes for a clear-cut government for the next term.
